Series: Gargoyles
Character: Lexington
Timeline: Post-episode 6, imported from City of Ariel
Personality:
First and foremost, Lexington is curious and excitable, especially where technology is concerned. His willingness to learn about the world around him, and the playfulness he shows with his friends...especially Bronx later in the series, make him seem younger than he is. He enjoys hanging out with his friends whether it's playing, exploring, or just being together, and shares many of their interests, but technology is where his true interests lie. He often pokes a bit of fun at Broadway, but never means any harm by it. His nature is also very protective of those he is close to, seen most strongly in his bond with baby Alex. His protectiveness was so great that he handed himself over to humans who would have killed him eventually in order to save the baby, and later broke free from restraints so powerful they damaged his ankles and wrists in the attempt...again to save Alex.

Despite his small size, Lex doesn't lack in confidence, being aware of his strengths and weaknesses usually and not letting fear get in his way when he's needed. He was originally pretty outgoing and willing to take the first step in befriending others. After the incident where his attempt to befriend resulted in broken trust and almost cost him his life, he became a lot more wary of new faces. If not for his clan and especially Brooklyn, he might have become much more resentful and introverted than he is. It's likely that any other such instances of broken trust would result in a similar or worse reaction from him.

He doesn't seem particularly interested in girls, or in relationships period, though he does sometimes humor Brooklyn's interest in finding more female gargoyles...and he did look at the human-turned-gargoyle ladies during Puck's mischief. He made no attempts to get close to Angela or to win her favor when she arrived, simply offering a quiet greeting and generally treating her the same as anyone else in the clan.

Lexington has a high potential for hurt feelings and a quick temper and, while there are specific examples of where these negative feelings surface, it's possible that any similar situation could raise them on a similar or worse level. Every time the Pack is mentioned from that day on his first priorities would do a drastic shift to revenge at almost any cost whether he had help or not...reaching the point of the reckless endangerment of himself and others. He will snap at others unprovoked, is hard to reason with, and shows no immediate concern for the impending problems of others when they should be first priority. He can rein himself in to help his friends, but it sometimes has to be a serious circumstance that snaps him out of it. He seems to harbor some resentment towards Goliath, even though he still trusts and looks to him as leader. The episode Future Tense hinted that should he feel abandoned and hopeless for extended periods he could lose all faith and become evil...as seen when his resentment for Goliath's supposed abandonment drove him to not only destroy all of his friends, but to attempt to and succeed in taking over the world even though he was destroyed as well. That episode implied heavily that his relationships with others determine his development.

City of Ariel development
Thanks to the overall positive influence of the people he met there, Lex has opened up a little bit and become a bit less upset. He's still cautious about the people he lets see him and who he'll trust though. Also, the fact that this is a new city means he'll be even more cautious again, but not outright suspicious.

Background:
Lexington was hatched around the same time as Brooklyn and Broadway in the rookery in Castle Wyvern. He grew up with them, his clan sharing the castle with humans who didn't like or trust them. But he still managed an enjoyable life in a very small world. Like his entire clan, except for Goliath, during this time he had no name.

In the year 994, Vikings assaulted the castle but were defeated by the gargoyles as soon as the sun set. The next night found Lex and Brooklyn keep away with Bronx, when a young boy curiously approached the. Their short conversation was interrupted by his mother, fearing her son would be hurt by the "monsters" humans saw them as. In a small show of temper, Lex and Brooklyn purposely scared the humans, earning themselves, Broadway, and Bronx being sent to the rookery...a punishment that saved their lives.

The next night when they emerged, the castle had been ransacked. The humans were gone and their enter clan had been smashed in their sleep, leaving only them, Hudson, and Goliath. Leaving immediately, they sought out the Vikings to save the humans and avenge their friends. They managed to defeat the army, but the Magus who served the Princess appeared, believing their appearance cost the princess her life and cursing them to sleep until the conditions to the spell were met.

1000 years passed and the clan awoke to find their castle relocated to the top of a tall skyscraper in Manhattan. The man responsible, Xanatos, explained that they were the last of their kind and that he awakened him to befriend them. It was then that the castle was attacked by mysterious people with weapons none of the gargoyles had seen. They fought but the intruders stole something and escaped, with Lexington realizing immediately after that the helicopter they escaped in was a machine.

Afterwards Lex, Brooklyn, and Broadway explored the building, taking a particular interest in the various equipment in the kitchen, though exploration ended with the kitchen becoming a disaster area. As they left they spotted Goliath talking to a human woman, a detective called Elisa who expressed an interest in the clan.

The next night, the Trio left the castle to explore the new world, seeing a lot of the city and exploring until there wings were tired. Lex even managed to try...and blow up, a motorcycle after accidentally scaring the rider away. It was nearly dawn when they returned, but Goliath wasn't back yet and didn't return until the next night. During the recount of why he hadn't returned, Goliath called Hudson by the name he'd chosen, prompting the Trio to decide on their names and Bronx's. The same night, they were reunited with Goliath's second-in-command, who had survived the massacre and apparently been wokem separately. With her insistence they helped Xanatos retrieve what was stolen their first night in New York.

The Trio was assigned a tower just off the island, which they infiltrated with a bit of difficulty, and Lex got the disk they were after before making a hasty escape. The same night, they were attacked by robots in Goliath's likeness that Xanatos created. Taken out early, Lex didn't contribute anything to this fight at all. It was revealed the second-in-command was siding with Xanatos, harboring a grudge against humanity and the fact that she'd been in on the plan the let the Vikings sack the castle 1000 years earlier, as well as having the name Demona. They were supposed to be lured away because they wouldn't have een killed and the castle would have been theirs.

Elisa came to their rescue and in the chaos Demona fell to her presumed death and Xanatos was arrested. With the castle theirs again for the time being they could focus on other things, like adapting to the current era and life in Manhattan. The Trio became fascinated by TV superheroes, The Pack, Lex especially because he saw them as kindred spirits and potential allies. Once the opportunity came up, he approached them alone for friendship and was tricked into bringing them Goliath, resulting in him and Goliath being hunted for sport. Though they turned the tables and defeated the Pack, it left a hugely negative impact on Lex who became less willing to approach new people.

City of Ariel timeline
While he wasn't in Ariel long, Lex's experiences were as much a culture shock as when he first arrived in New York. Waking up in the equivalent of a guidance counselor's office, he had learned that he was in a city where sex was not only normal and embraced, but encouraged by the chips that all residents had implanted in their brains. After a rundown of the rules and learning that the chip was also his communicator and bank, Lex had tentatively used the network to see if there was anyone he could connect with in this strange place.

He spoke through voice with a few people, but the two that stuck out most were also from the US. One was a girl who suggested meeting for coffee and helping him figured out his sexuality since he hadn't given any thought to dating outside of male/female relationships...and his first concern had been who would sleep with a gargoyle in the first place. While he hadn't told her he was a gargoyle at the time, the young woman hadn't been scared of him at all in personn and talking to her had been nice. With her help he had found pretty quickly that he could appreciate a girl's looks withou actually being attracted to them, and that his interest was more in men. This also led to his first time being with Jaime Reyes, a latino male he'd also spoken to, and just happened to pass the coffee shop.

More than the learning about sex the interactions with these two characters, and the following ones as well, helped reopen him to the idea that there were people human and otherwise that he could meet and connect with.

Abilities/Additional Notes:
Generally, Lexington is no different than any other gargoyle when it comes to abilities. Despite his small size, Lexington has strength noticeably above that of a human. He's able to claw steel and stone, and grip with enough force to climb surfaces made of either. He's also able to bend or tear steel up to a foot thick, lift heavy objects, and crush metal or stone like any other gargoyle. These feats just sometimes require a bit more exertion from him than a larger gargoyle like Broadway.

Also like all gargoyles he can't fly, but can glide on air currents and is good at maneuvering in midair. His night vision allows him to see in almost no light at all. When angered, his eyes glow white. He can take more damage than a human can, recover faster from unconsciousness, and usually has better endurance. He is very resistant to heat and cold, enough that he can deal with any type of weather with little trouble and, but is not by any means immune to extreme conditions.

During the day he's forced to turn to stone. This is how gargoyles sleep, and during this he time can heal most damage from received injuries...with the exceptions of death or dismemberment. This makes him very hard to scar. He is completely vulnerable in this state though, and is entirely unaware of anything that happens around him. Should he be smashed, he would simply remain stone and die.

Outside of gargoyle-related abilities, Lex is a technology wiz. He can understand machines of various types and was the first to adapt to the 20th century because of it. He can work computers with ease and even hack security, as well as spot alarms, surveillance that's active, and learn to operate vehicles. He can also build useful technology from scrap, like the motorcycle he built or when he fixed the Pack's helicopter.
